چکیده

Database visualization helps the end users extract useful information from database by using visualization techniques. The problem to be solved by database visualization is to find a mapping between high-dimensional spaces that exists in the database and the two-dimensional space that exists on the computer screen. This thesis uses Java data model as an intermediate model to bridge the gap between database and visualization data models. The technology infrastructure is composed of the latest Java technology. The Java Data Object (JDO) interface serves as a mapping between storage and Java object. The distributed architecture is based on the Remote Method Invocation (RMI) and service looking up is performed with the Java Naming and Directory Interface (JNDI). The final visualization is realized with Java3D. Two sample runs for the visualization of protein-protein interaction and the visualization of computer network prove the novel approach of database visualization with Java data model is feasible. Powered by the architecture provide by this thesis, it is possible for new data arrived in storage becoming knowledge quickly.

A new approach for data visualization problem

Data visualization is the process of transforming data, information, and knowledge into visual form, making use of humans’ natural visual capabilities which reveals relationships in data sets that are not evident from the raw data, by using mathematical techniques to reduce the number of dimensions in the data set while preserving the relevant inherent properties. In this paper, we formulated d...

Multiresolution Terrain Database Visualization

Digital terrain visualization has received increasing research interest in recent years. One main problem focus has been the large size of terrain data, which needs to be stored on secondary storage hence causing a performance slow-down in terrain visualization. This paper surveys secondary storage terrain visualization techniques with a particular focus on spatial database systems supporting t...

A Framework for Efficient Storage Security in RDBMS

With the widespread use of e-business coupled with the public’s awareness of data privacy issues and recent database security related legislations, incorporating security features into modern database products has become an increasingly important topic. Several database vendors already offer integrated solutions that provide data privacy within existing products. However, treating security and ...

An Investigation of Performance Bottlenecks in a Main- Memory Database Management System

The rise of Internet-based applications means that database management systems (DBMSs) need to support a large number of concurrent clients issuing transaction requests. But the speed in which traditional DBMS are able to access data is insufficient because of the limited bandwidth of disk storage devices. Main memory database management systems (MMDBMS) [16] store data entirely in memory to ov...

Design Issues in Transaction-Time Temporal Object Database Systems

Object database systems (ODBs) are an attractive alternative to relational database systems, especially in application areas where the modeling power or performance of relational database systems is insufficient. These applications typically maintain large amounts of data. Frequently, some of the data is temporal data. For the temporal data, the whole history of the individual objects is kept, ...
